When God Calls You to Pivot
By Cathie Ostapchuk
You can make all the best plans, pray for direction, feel certain you’re following God’s leading—and then… you have to pivot.
You didn’t want to. You didn’t plan to. But pivot is what the situation required.
Those moments can shake even the most grounded leader, the most grounded anyone! When the script changes, we can begin to question ourselves—or even question God. But here’s what’s true: sometimes the pivot is not proof of failure, it’s evidence of God’s faithfulness.
At Gather Women, we know this firsthand. Pivoting to reschedule our Whatever Is True date to a few weeks later was not what we planned. But it was, with the best information we knew at the time, what we needed to do.
We don’t always know what we don’t know. But God does. And His plans—though sometimes messy in the moment—are always best. Best for His glory. Best for our growth. Best for the full revelation of His purpose, which often unfolds on roads we didn’t expect to travel.
Scripture reminds us of this promise:
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
Proverbs 16:9
Even when the path twists, His hand is steady. Even when our plans unravel, His purposes remain intact. Our role is not to map out every turn—it’s to keep walking in faith, trusting that His way is higher, His timing wiser, and His heart kinder than ours could ever be.
So, what do you do when you’ve had to make a call that took you somewhere you never intended? You take the next step. You breathe. You remember that obedience isn’t about perfection—it’s about trust.
And then, you keep on walking.
At Gather, we’re walking too—pivoting with purpose, trusting God’s hand in the turn. We’d love for you to come with us as we take our turn in the road toward our new date for Whatever Is True—now happening November 8.
It’s going to be a boutique experience curated just for women who find themselves on a road they never planned to travel. Together, we’ll explore the truth of God’s Word, the beauty of His timing, and the strength of your identity in Him.
And for those who lead—or are longing to—join us one day earlier at the TRUE Women Leaders Forum on November 7.
Because no matter the twists and turns, there is still truth to be discovered, purpose to be revealed, and beauty to be found in the pivot.
So, let’s walk this road together—trusting that even when plans change, God never does.
