Gather Women invites Christian women from across Canada to join us at Gather Rise 2018!
Come join us at our 3rd National Gather Women event! We invite you to gather from coast to coast, for an inspirational day of bible teaching, worship, to hear the voices of incredible Canadian Christian women, and to listen together for what God desires to do in our nation at this time in history. Gather Rise will feature the voices of Danielle Strickland, Helen Burns, Cathie Ostapchuk, and other amazing Christian women from across Canada!

Speakers for Gather Rise 2018
Danielle Strickland is currently based in Toronto, Canada. Her aggressive compassion has served people firsthand in countries all over the world. From establishing Justice Departments for The Salvation Army to launching Global anti-trafficking initiatives, to creating new movements to mobilize peopletowards transformational living. Danielle trains, advocates, and inspires people to live differently.
Danielle is the author of 5 books with her most recent being "The Ultimate Exodus: Finding Freedom From What Enslaves You" and "The Zombie Gospel: The Walking Dead and What it means to be Human." She is host of DJStrickland Podcast, Co-founder of Infinitum, Amplify Peace and Brave Global. Danielle is a mom of 3, wife to @stephencourt and has been affectionately called the "ambassador of fun”.
Brooke Nicholls is a Worship Leader and Songwriter from Toronto, ON, where she serves as a Staff Worship Leader at C4 Church. When she's not at her home Church, she's leading worship at different Churches and Ministries across Canada and beyond. Brooke was named the New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2018 Canadian Gospel Music Awards and will release her new album ‘Pursue’ in 2018. Brooke is married to her guitar player Steve.
Cathie Ostapchuk’s work and ministry as a leadership development trainer, consultant and coach - has led her to work in global non-profit organizations such as World Vision and Compassion, corporate boardrooms, across Canada and as far as Africa and Australia. Her mission statement is to help clarify purpose and vision for individuals, teams and organizations.
Cathie is committed to raising the profile and presence of Canadian Christian women coast to coast and as the Co-Founder of Gather Women, she knows that the Canadian landscape will be transformed by women who are connected and championed in a culture of support. She believes that cultivating the soil in this nation and gathering, developing and equipping Canadian Christian women will nurture a collective voice and a presence that can radically impact our churches, communities and our culture.
Helen Burns has been married to her high-school sweetheart, John for over 40 years. She passionately loves being a Mom and 'Oma' to her family. She has been a pastor at Relate Church in the Vancouver area for the past 30 years and travels extensively around the world speaking primarily on the subject of Relationships, Marriage and Family. She is a Television Host and has authored several books. She longs to explore more of her beloved Canada and her beautiful people.
Julianne August is a strategic leader and inspiring communicator who enjoys equipping and investing in others. Her heart beats for the local church, women, leaders, for prayer and rhythms of rest that nourish our souls. She is the Executive Director at Compass Community Church, a multisite church in Orangeville, Ontario. She is currently giving leadership to the Gather Prayer Movement and is excited about Canadian women uniting their voices in prayer from coast to coast. Julianne is a life coach and serves with various faith based organizations both nationally and regionally. Her life is made richer sharing it with her husband Paul and two adult sons, friendships, a good book, guacamole and her camera.
Joy Byers was born in Montreal and found her way into the loving arms of Jesus much later in life. An introvert by nature, Joy loves to curl up with a good book and chill with Frankie (her adorable tuxedo cat) by the fireplace or snuggle up with Kevin the man who makes her belly laugh, and husband of 26 years. Joy treasures flawed, imperfect, authentic people as well as travelling and learning new things. She is enamoured of all things tech and understanding what makes things work the way they do as well as an avid basketball fan who loves the opportunity feed your belly and your soul.
Joy currently serves as the Discipleship Pastor @ The Peoples Church and is passionate about equipping the body to handle the Word of God, with a special place for women.
Cheryl Nembhard is an award winning Filmmaker, Playwright & Social Advocate who uses her incredible talents in Theatre & Film, to tackle some of the toughest societal topics. She has dedicated her life to community service, helping rehabilitate troubled youth, former gang members, ex- drug addicts, rape victims & teenage mothers. CBC Canada has recognized her as one of '150 Black Women who are making Canada a better place'. Cheryl is Co Host of 'See, Hear, Love', a Christian Women's talk show on YES TV.
Kallie Wood is Nakota Cree of Carry the Kettle Band First Nation in SK and is the Indigenous Director at CHS/BCS and Owner/Executive Facilitator of Converging Pathways Consulting. She is a mother to three beautiful children and a kookum [Cree meaning grandma].She is a resilient survivor of foster care and assimilation and shares her journey of forgiveness, justice, and reconciliation, bringing hope towards a grander vision for our children and grandchildren, our leaders of tomorrow. Her desire to see and experience reconciliation in this nation drives her forward in creating Aboriginal awareness.
Tara Teng is a TV host, Miss World Canada 2012, a human rights activist, and works with various organizations around the world to combat gender-based violence and human trafficking. She regularly works internationally to support impoverished villages through community development and raising the socio-economic status of women. She was named Canada’s “Woman on the Year” in 2011, named one of the Globe and Mail’s “Top 25 Most Transformational Canadians”, and received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal in recognition of her vast human rights work.
Kaitlyn Cey is the Sisterhood Pastor at Elim Church in Saskatoon. She believes relationships are the heartbeat of any powerful life, worthwhile cause and thriving community. Kaitlyn is the founder of Inspire YXE, a network that aims to equip youth to overcome challenges and be influencers in their world to make impact for God’s Kingdom. Kaitlyn grew up on a farm in rural Saskatchewan and adores the lively sunsets and wild canola fields that paint the prairies as well as learning from diverse people and voices.
Karmyn Bokma is currently serving as the Lead Pastor at The Meeting House, Oakville. She is passionate about helping people discover, and understand more deeply their identity in Christ, and nothing energizes her more than leading teams of people as they work and serve out of who God has made them to be. She is a graduate of Redeemer University College as well as the Arrow Leadership program. She is married to Ben and they have three kids: Elliana, Ezekiel and Silas, and she enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and games of any kind.
Vanessa Hoyes, her husband Andrew and their four gorgeous girls moved from Australia to pioneer Resurgent Church three years ago. They carried a God-given promise of a reawakening across Quebec and the French-speaking world. They have dug deep roots in our nation, and fallen in love with the people of Quebec. Vanessa personally loves words in all forms and the four seasons the northern hemisphere offers. The feminine heart strengthened is her passion and she adores the local church in all Her glorious imperfect perfections! Gather just so fits in her DNA.
Dagmar Morgan – Sinclair is an author, speaker, spoken word poet, and pastor. Her journey as a Christ follower, who passionately loves Jesus, has given her the joy of being an internationally published author and slam poetry champion. Living out her faith in the everyday, Dagmar tackles modern life and her journey with fierce honesty, sharing her love for words through her story and testimony with passion and intensity. Dagmar’s writing stretches the “vast in-betweens” of life and death, abuse and betrayal, brokenness and redemption interwoven in a beautiful mosaic of performance, biblical teaching and real-life talks.
Lorie Hartshorn is a Pastor, Speaker and Author of the DVD Bible Study, Finding Freedom. Lorie has a passion to see people grow in faith and experience spiritual freedom. As the Connections Pastor at C4 Church in Ajax Ontario she oversees the discipleship ministries connecting people into small groups and equipping people to grow in faith. Her teaching can be seen on 100 Huntley St TV, The 700 Club TV Canada and www.C4church.com.
Joanna Lafleur is the Creative Communications Pastor at C4 Church and co-hosts a nationally televised Christian talk show called “See Hear Love” in its 3rd season.
Joanna began her career in the world of high-tech marketing and PR, before transitioning to church ministry. Her Masters in Theological Studies focused on how to use digital communication tools for evangelism and discipleship.
She is a proud aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, a Board Member with InterServe, a published songwriter, and an advisor to the Institute of Evangelism at Wycliffe College.
Misty Ropp is passionate about helping people see their true value and worth, identifying God’s fingerprint on their lives, lavishing His love on them! She works as the Executive Director of Human Resources at Compassion Canada where she is responsible for leading a flourishing culture with good organizational health; empowering and equipping leaders and staff to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Misty is married to the love of her life, Darren and they live in a home in Melrose, just outside of London.
Petra Kooman is Director of Marketing and Public Relations for IJM Canada, She manages the organization’s communications initiatives, including media, public and government relations.
Before coming to IJM Canada, Petra worked in several not-for-profit environments, including the University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College and the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA). Petra holds an M.A. in Communications from The Johns Hopkins University. She has also earned an M.A. in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations, and an honours B.A. in English and Political Science, both from the University of Western Ontario. Petra lives with her husband in London, Ontario.
Angela Doell is a Jesus follower, storyteller, bridge builder and creative. A church girl to the core, she has recently stepped into the role of Lead Pastor at Relate Church in Surrey, BC. Angela’s heart beats to build a church home where everyone belongs, where the generations are honoured and empowered, and where the kindness of God leads people into true freedom and purpose. Angela has been married to her first-and-forever-love, Rod, for twenty-four years and she’s mom to two grown kids, Madi and Miller.
Petra Blenkhorne is a professional dancer and the Artistic Director at Motus O. When she's not on the road with the troupe, Petra can be found relishing the variety in her life ... strength training clients, dressing ladies at Zahara's Boutique, sewing something, or tending someone's garden... Otherwise, she's trying to connect with (and feed) her teenage boys. Heartfelt thanks to Ted, for releasing me to fly again and my mom, siblings and friends for your incredibly kind home support.
